Full Bathroom Remodel – Kelso & Longview, WA

Project Overview

Took a dated, cramped tile shower down to the studs and rebuilt the bathroom from the framing out. Demolition uncovered years of hidden water damage, so the rotted framing and sheathing were replaced before a brand new walk-in shower, vanity and flooring went in.

Key Features

  • Complete tear-out down to the studs
  • Rotted framing and wall sheathing replaced
  • New walk-in shower with large-format wall tile
  • Pebble stone shower floor and glass sliding door
  • New vanity, fixtures and lighting
  • Wood-look flooring and tall linen cabinet

About This Project

This bathroom started with an old, closet-sized tile shower that had seen better days. The plan was a straightforward update, but once the tile and walls came out it was clear the problem went much deeper than the surface.

Behind the shower, years of slow leaks had soaked into the wall framing and sheathing. Much of the wood was soft, blackened and rotting, and the damage reached all the way through to the exterior wall. Covering that up would only have hidden the problem, so the damaged section was opened up from the outside and the rotted framing and sheathing were cut out and replaced with new lumber.

With a solid, dry structure in place, the bathroom was rebuilt from the framing out. The new walk-in shower features large-format plank tile on the walls, a pebble stone floor and a glass sliding door. A new vanity, fixtures, lighting, wood-look flooring and a tall linen cabinet finish off the space.

The result is a bright, modern bathroom that is built to last instead of a fresh coat of tile over a failing wall. Honey Do Helper handles bathroom remodels and water damage repair throughout Kelso, Longview, and Cowlitz County — call for a free estimate.
